Zee Avi , the new sensation ???

Zee Avi....hmmm

didn't really know her at 1st....
but i kept reading loads and loads of articles about a Malaysian who managed to get a contract with Brushfire records @ Hollywood ( correct me if i'm wrong lols )

and the name Zee Avi kinda caught my attention .....

the 2nd time i heard about her was when me , James and Claudia was @ Leisure Mall last month to discuss about the Christmas Party plan and we adjourned to Popular bookstore ( CD corner ) and heard a song with funny lyrics in English mix Bm .... it sounds something like this : semalam i call you , you tak answer...... and later , the word Damansara was heard by us and we were like...laughing lols xD

I later got to know that the song is entitled " Kantoi " .....quite catchy haha xD

The 3rd time was few days before christmas....when i was driving while listening to Lite fm then this really soothing and sweet Christmas song really got me hooked....went home and kept finding for the song title but to no avail ( i don't know the song title that time ) but thank GOD i discovered the song by accident today and i was shocked to now that the song is sung by none other.... Zee Avi a.k.a Kokokaina...

Love her old world charm voice.....akin to Joanna Wang's voice actually....
somehow , when i 1st got to know her , i would say that she's the Malaysian version of Joanna Wang .... really ..

The Song i SUPER LOVE !! :

I know la Christmas is over like......roughly 2 week ago...but still , i'm loving this song =)

The Lyrics :

Sung and Written by Zee Avi =)

No, there won't be Christmas for me this year
For the simple reason being you're not here

There won't be eggnogs by the cozy fire
There won't be glasses of mulled wine either
There won't even be a Christmas tree
'cause you're not here to light it up with me

Oh, Santa honey, won't you bring my baby back to me?
'cause i miss him, yes, i miss him oh so dearly

I haven't sent him his Christmas card
'cause that would mean we really are apart
The Christmas stockings are as empty as my heart

I know you're away doing something good
But just this once, baby, if you could
You know you can, and you know should
'cause Christmas won't be Christmas...

without you

Two days to Christmas and i'm still waiting outside
Wishing upon a star that you'll be coming home tonight
But it was cold, it was getting late
Sadly, i crept back into bed
But then i felt a soft kiss on my cheek
I opened my eyes, and there my baby was...

with me!

My baby came back for me
Merry Christmas, baby

and this song .... Kantoi ( B.M word for " Busted " )

This is not her Music Video , but this 2 girls ( sisters ) really did a great job @ making this a really priceless video for our viewing pleasure =D haha

Zee Avi vs Joanna Wang ......

1st and foremost , a little info about them =)

Zee Avi :

Zee Avi (born Izyan Alirahman,[1] also known as KokoKaina;[2] b. 1986)[3] is a Malaysian singer-songwriter, guitarist, and ukulele player.

Personal life

Avi was born in Miri, Sarawak, on the island of Borneo. She moved to Kuala Lumpur when she was 12.[4] She studied fashion design atAmerican InterContinental University in London.[5]

[edit]Career

In September 2007 Avi posted a video of her first song on YouTube for one of her friends who had missed her first performance in Kuala Lumpur. The friend convinced Avi to leave the video online even after he had seen it, and soon she received positive feedback. This inspired her to put more videos on YouTube.[5] After being featured on the main page of YouTube, she was discovered by Patrick Keeler of The Raconteurs, who passed the link to Ian Montone, the manager of The White Stripes, The Shins, The Raconteurs, and others. Montone passed her music on to Emmett Malloy, who signed her to Brushfire Records, a record company which is partly owned by Jack Johnson.[4] Her song "No Christmas For Me" is featured on Brushfire Records's 2008 Christmas album This Warm December: A Brushfire Holiday.[6] Her single "Bitter Heart" was first to become available on the US iTunes store, and her full self-titled debut album was released on May 19, 2009, co-produced by Brushfire Records and Ian Montone's Monotone Records. On the day of her album's release, YouTube featured her on the front page in Spotlight: Music Tuesday. From June–August 2009, she toured the United States with Pete Yorn. The final concert on her first U.S. tour was at the Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, California on August 27, 2009. [7] [8]
