What " YOUTH " PIANO concerto !?! ( i feel so " downgraded " xD )

Joking la.....

My teacher actually asked me to play a piano concerto besides my other pieces....
and he advised me to go for a more " less showy " piece so that i can have more variety in my playing....

so yeah...no Rachmaninoff , no Liszt , not even Beethoven .... =(

oh well....
so before he asked me to choose a concerto ,
he asked me to play Ravel's Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte

Yup , this is the song xD

p.s Chuan Li , you want me to die izzit.......you know i'm not mend all these kind of genre xD jkjk xD

* actually , i'm not good @ expressing these kind of music...so yeah , maybe he wants me to cut down on showy pieces because of that....and my techniques for these kind of pieces.....is not very steady as well xD

Sounds easy , ( ONLY 4 PAGES ) , and Ravel is a very Neat Composer , thus his scores are really EASY to read because it's just so...NEAT XD

Random stuff :

another FACT of mine : After the 7th page of any musical scores , Chermaine Needs ENDURANCE and PATIENCE to practice xD ( BECAUSE she usually will just give up ) =( xD

yeah....that's what happened to my Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue....I stopped @ Page 10 i think ( that's the furthest i went xD )

AND Liszt's FestPolonaise ( 9 pages ) but thank God that song is not really hard...so the 9 pages ....the notes....
not really complicated and it's really easy to read XD and it's a duet piece...so .....of course 9 pages la...to accomodate the primo and secondo xD

ok , the next topic / back to the main topic...

oh yeah....so Piano Concerto.....do you know what it means ?

Piano Concerto = Regarded as the Grandest of any piano genres..... = it's much more Grand than any Etudes , Sonatas , Rhapsodies , etc....( something like that ) = In a piano concerto , the piano is the lead and the rest of the orchestra instruments are the accompaniment ( something like that ) sorry if i'm wrong ...

usually when a piano concerto is played without the orchestra , then it would be accompanied by a second piano...
( usually happens during Recitals or Master Classes )

So yeah.....when Chuan Li told me about me playing a Piano Concerto as

" at least , if you don't major in Music , you can use your Piano Concerto as an escapade / you won't feel so regretful of not majoring Music... " lols.....

swt much =.='' xD

he further explained that Piano Concertos is the MOST anticipated thing in Music Conservatories and universities lols xD

He told me that they usually can't wait for their senior's Piano Concerto Performance and vice versa ...

" i see... "

He actually gave me a few choices....but eventually i cut

1) Edvard Grieg's infamous CONCERTO IN A MINOR ( bet you sure know this in 1 minute )

I should go for a lyrical one....

so yeah...i have no choice......so i'm PLaying Kabelvsky's Piano Concerto No.3 a.k.a the YOUTH CONCERTO

I. Allegro molto

Comment : I love the beginning of the Piano Part " lovely motive " =)

II. Andante con moto

* What.........youth concerto.... !?!

Comment : What !?! the beginning orchestra part sounds a lot like Tchaikovsky's Sugar Plum Fairy's Theme....AND IT'S slow...yawns =( but overall , it's very expressive xD and the hard part would be voicing out the left hand ....and i like the flute's melody xD it's incredibly haunting in a sweet way =) and i love the build up part and the " dying down " part right after the build up xD the motive is nice ain't it ? =) i like the romantic sounding part @ 2:37 BUT ....WHERE IS THE PIANO ???????????? oh ya...found ya xD
( SRY LOLS XD i'm like writing when i'm hearing this...that's why there's a lot of random comments here and there xD ) BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT : THE CLIMAX IS DAMN NICE !!

III. Presto

Comment : WHAT !! REALLY BREAKNECK SPEED EH !! and lols xD you know i love these kind xD haha and the motive ahhhhhh i love it ! and lols xD funfare theme in the middle xD

Conclusion : What.....this is not as " easy " as i though lols xD but i have to admit it is much easier than most piano concertos la haha xD

AND I REALLY LOVE RUSSIAN MOTIVES ( THEIR FOLK SONGS' MOTIVE XD ) you can clearly find that in Rachmaninoff's , Stravinsky's , Tchaikovsky's , Kabalebsky's and etc Russian Composers' music......

oh ya another random fact i've found ....

* Russian composer is kinda easy to distinguish because of their -Sky LOLS XD

i'm that type when it comes to piano xD i usually opt for showy pieces xD not that my techniques a undoubtly good or wht ....because my techniques are damn horrible =D

Random moment :

I FEEL like challenging Chopin's Grand Polonaise

1st version : ( I named it 1st version because there's a score haha xD )

( but why la the front part of this edition is played by orchestra d ? )

2nd version : fully piano xD - NO SCORE =(

you better see the chopin ! because i saw an 11 year old playing that piece during the Chopin's 200th anniversary @ KLCC two weeks before 0.0

Yundi ! =)
