Tibetan songs
Just came back from Genting yesterday...
( my mum was one of the judges for a National Kids singing competition thing.. )
I noticed that this year ,
Tibetan songs are most of the contestants main pick...
( perhaps the difficulty level is high...and they can show their vocal skills lols.. )
and seriously...
honestly ,
they are better ( as in meaning )
and not as irritating as other songs...
Few years back I was really dying to know who is that girl singing 青藏高原 ( tibetan plateau )
because her voice...omgosh...one of the most beautiful voice ever...powerful , soothing , impacting yet soft as well !!
it turns out to be Han Hong , a Tibetan-Chinese singer who looks really tomboyish..but wait till you hear here voice...
I seriously love her two famous songs : 青藏高原 and 天路
天路 ( Heaven's Road )
When I first heard that song , I thought it's like other mongolian-ish song ( I actually thought that those two songs are mongolian , or xin jiang... but i'm wrong... )..Tibetan and other Chinese minorities group often sing about mountains , rivers etc ..I thought It would be beautifully traditional...
Then when I read the lyrics...oh...it's actually quite modern...
This is the railway...( so beautiful !! I want to GO THERE !! :D ) ...someone wants to teman me climb Mount. Everest ? haha !!!!! that would be the most ambitious ( OR MAYBE absurd ) dream ever lol !!
She's actually talking about Qingzang Railway , which connects Qinghai to Lhasa ( one of tibet's major cities ) . Previously Tibetans find it hard to obtain food and medicines from other Chinese Province because they are actually quite remote.. Most students who wants to study need about two to three months of traveling to reach other provinces .The building of the railway makes many things more accessible to them :) This song is about the happiness they felt after the railway was built.. ( the railway is actually one of the most complicated engineering feat in the whole world... )
