As most of you know ,
Deborah Priya Henry didn't make it into the top 16 in Miss Universe 2011..
It was a total letdown since she everything the right way in the pageant...
Hmm.. but that's the another story...
Went to Andrea Fonseka's page just now to see the updates about the pageant since i've missed a few because of my exams on previous days...
It's very obvious that everyone is totally unhappy about the choice...
To refute what my mum told me yesterday ,
It's obvious that the whole world expects her to be in the top 16 or even , Miss Universe 2011 ( though I didn't have the confidence that she'll be the Miss Universe..but at least..top 16 ? )
My mum said , " Look at the newspaper , she's like so kua zhang-HER twitter quote ( over the top exaggeration ) Told ya she won't be in the top 16 , look at her chin...like she have no chin...You are her fan..that's why you said those things to protect her. Besides , she's too thin for Miss Universe.." She kinda have the sneer and arrogance in her voice when she told me that =.=
Wow..if my mum think she's not pretty ( which she said so... ) then how about other beauty queens ? I do agree she do not have over the top gorgeous face , but she have a gorgeous body ( she's thin , but she's well toned...) AND she have the brains...( Man...it's rare to see eloquent beauty queen speakers in Malaysia...apart from her , Nadine , Rachel Tan ( Miss Chinese International 2002 ) and a handful of them )
Honestly ,
I do agree with what she said and told her " that's the reason why I don't wanna join Miss Malaysia Universe.. " Miss Universe look for the universal beauty look and curvaceous body...and TALLL girls"
and she said " Thin people are not good for Miss Universe , but they are good for Asian pageants "

But the point here is that If she's too thin ? Why Miss USA can be in the top 16 ?
Don't get me wrong , but she's really beautiful , she's like an Irish goddess with piercing green eyes and natural red hair...Her face saved her body !!!
Don't get me wrong , I really really adore her !!! You should see her journey to Miss USA's crown..
But that aside...Man..I beat around the bush a lot....

To be honest ,
it's not that he's totally wrong...
But he's not totally right either....
In these offensive comments ,
He's indicating that since Deborah ( the best beauty queen from Malaysia ) was out of the top 16 ,
WHY not just send Chinese girls into the pageant
which means that Chinese girls are ugly in comparison to mixed races...
Honestly , I do agree that to penetrate Miss Universe ,
Your face have to look universal , hence mixed looks are desirable...
You can look " unirace " and represent Malaysia but that ....will have to depend on your confidence , the way you project yourself and your interviews...I mean..Miss Universe is still Miss Universe...
And since Malaysia is a diverse country , it's hard to really find a race that can truly represent us...
It's easier for China though...since Chinese now is in the hot market... there are literally a rising asset in the high fashion industry ( Westerners love their eastern charm... ) ..They just need to find authentic Chinese girls..
But...not really Chinese looking as well , Look at Miss China 2011
She looks well...Chinese...but she don't look THAT chinese... she really have the universal look...and that's what I mean...Chinese can look universal as well....
and I have to admit another thing : Chinese do not have really sharp features ( unless they are of mixed blood..but I don't really agree..because I don't really have sharp features XD so I'm one of the rare exceptions..) But there are a lot of pretty Chinese girls out there despite mixed girls looking hotter or more beautiful...it's about perceptions and mindset...which i'm gonna blog about it in the next post..
Maybe that guy was really upset from the result of Malays being banned from joining beauty pageants...which is a waste...coz they are actually really pretty as well...sharp features and healthy skin tan...
My suggestion is that they should find a girl with brains..and the look of an asian person with the universal appeal...which is : look kinda mixed but still have the asian charm... not TOTALLY mixed like she's from Britain or Australia...that will not justify us and her.. Coz in the end , it boils down to finding the girl who can present how all the races are in Malaysia...in her Looks that is..

Zana totally shows that Chinese can be pretty and cool !! , Kimberly she have mixed looks but she have a universal appeal and a little asian touch..and she look fresh ( maybe because she's only 18 ) but she gorgeous !! I would die to have a face like hers XD XD ( JUST kidding XD )
and looking fresh is the best asset in any pageant...Deborah Henry's only flaw is that she's like a matured wine...She looks matured and sexy..but nowadays , freshness sells ( more than sex appeal )
